My question is, is there any way of quickly finding out who is still
actually on the race
track and racing and who disconnected? At Spa I got the feeling that me and
the huy in
front of me were the only ones there, but after I saw that there was someone
behind me
by a minute.

Not inconclusively because 50% of cars are Lotii =) Try counting the
number of cars on the grid by using F10, then try to figure out how
many guys are behind you. Keep the incar-chat on so you will see when
someone is discoed. Look at the pit board for additional information.

Of course none of this really matters since if not hosting there will
be at least one guy to race, and catching your opponents while driving
smooth and fast is the primary goal.
