NASCAR Video Replays

by Andy Sutherlan » Wed, 14 Jun 1995 04:00:00

Greetings,

I`ve got the European CD-ROM edition of NASCAR Racing and its
crappy attempt at a manual. And while reading the section on the Video
Replays, I came across the following section:

The first button ( some scissors) .......
  The next button ( a camera) ........
The car icon enables you to view the onboard camera in a particular car.

* The fourth button is a Timing/Telemetry button. Pressing once selects the
stopwatch icon, pressing twice activates telemetry.

The next four buttons enable you to rewind, search play/pause...."

Now, I`ve looked several times and my version DOESN`T have a fourth button.
Is this the manual playing up or have the programmers created two versions?

And on the subject of the manual, an earlier thread spoke of the nonexistant
Announcer. It was decided that there wasn`t one. Well, the Euro manual says:

"OPTIONS Page.

Sound-
From this menu you can set the specific volume(-snipped-) For instance, if
you can`t hear the engine for the announcer then turn him off on this page."
Curious.......

I apologise if this subject has been done to death but as a consumer, I feel
let down by false promises in an otherwise brilliant piece of programming.

You're right... Papyrus didn't put the telemetry button in NASCAR for
some reason. I wish they had... I think it would have been neat.

I think they made the manual BEFORE the final release was out...or maybe
a later version will implement these features.

My sympathy!

[munch]

I think I've been guilty of *** this one a bit in this group.
I've been p!ssed off about that manual since I got it earlier in the
year. You've already spotted that in places the manual is just plain
WRONG. Unless you've played Indycar you wont know about the stuff
that's MISSING! If I recall things like using <SHIFT> plus <ENTER> on
a replay button to go backwards (eg cars/cameras). Could be wrong
though, but things like that anyway. Can't say I've bothered to look
in there since I bought it.

ANYWAY, after a couple of short email conversations with a couple of
the Papyrus folk (who have been very nice!) it transpires that there
were some licensing problems which Papyrus had sorted for America, but
*** didn't for Europe. That meant they couldn't put out the full
manual. Now, Papyrus have told me that *** have these new manuals
and are swapping existing Nascar manuals FOC. All you've got to do is
phone 'em up and ask (*** that is). If you get through that's half
the problem. The 2nd is getting any joy on the manual! I've tried
twice in the last month or so and both times didn't get very far. This
week I'll be trying again.

I *WILL* have my proper manual!!!

If you're interested I can send you more details...

Stuart.

PS, Good luck d8-))
