GPL 1.2 menu lock up

by de_sheph.. » Tue, 14 Dec 1999 04:00:00

Since applying the 1.2 patch I've has regular lockups when interacting
with menus etc. Main time comes when I need to save car setups to a new
filename (e.g. first outing at a track with a given car type) - when it
prompts for filename sometime it will lock solid (requiring PC reset -
C-A-D doesn't work) after I've typed a few chars.

Also, this weekend I've had a go at online racing for the first time and
noticed similar problems there where after a disconnect GPL locks up
when (or erhaps before) I press the OK button to reconnect.

Anyone seen anything similar and have a solution

Thanks

I am having exactly the same menu cursor lockup problem with one of my
GPL machines.
It's a PIII 450 with Voodoo2 and win98 (first edition). If I stop using
Glide and go back to software the lockups go away. But I want to run
Glide!....

I have another machine which is PIII300 and Voodoo2 and Win95 and this
works perfectly.

Both machines are on identical (latest) drivers.

Doe anyone have any idea what could be going wrong?

GPL 1.2 menu lock up

I've had this problem too when I was using glide driver version 2.54 (which
came with my V2 at that time). Switching back to v2.53 or upgrading to v2.56
did solve the problem.
The 2.56 driver for Voodoo-II can be found at www.3dfx.com.

Success,

Jan.

GPL 1.2 menu lock up

I believe I am using glide v2.53 - I have the 2.53 DLL in the GPL
directory ... but I am also using the "mirror patch" and I needed to
binary edit that to point to a renamed DLL for the glide 2.53. Perhaps I
need to double check that I'm not still actually getting v2.54!

GPL 1.2 menu lock up

by manxca » Thu, 16 Dec 1999 04:00:00

Thank you this has solved my problem. My confusion was that I couldn't
see a new driver on the latest 3DFX site. I had to download the Beta
DirectX7 drivers and extract the latest Glide driver from that.

2.56 is great
