The manual for GPL says something about that. The Rendition version is said
to look much better than 3Dfx. I'm still waiting to see the difference.

Perhaps somebody with a rendition card could turn on all the details and
take a couple of screen shots around Monaco and post them either here or in
a binary newsgroup somewhere?

Or even send them directly to me ;-)

Quite simply you DID and HAVE!  You where the person who started this
thread. .

When you started this thread you cross posted to

alt.comp.periphs.videocards.ati,alt.computer,alt.games.3dfx,rec.autos.sim
ulators

Now, if THAT isn't the biggest waste of bandwitch in a long time, what
is??!

Uh -- are you being serious?

Three newsgroups where this message is on-topic is not massive
crossposting.

Crossposting is a useful feature made necessary by the fact that
everybody and their brother wants their own alt.newsgroup. Frequently
the person with your answer doesn't even know of the existence of the
group you frequent.

Crossposting is abused when groups are cc'ed even if they bear no
remote resemblance to the topic at hand.

Which is incidentally the category that all following posts on this
thread will fall into...

Keep your Usenet neat.

And floss every day.

Yes and whilst Adam hasn't meant to do this he's still cross posted

Adam

Rendition Cards?

by Adam » Fri, 26 Feb 1999 04:00:00

[excuse my last message, it clearly wasn't sent correctly]

Chris obviously hasn't taken a moment to take a look at the newsgroups which
I posted to. He claims they're not relivant to Rendition Cards. And I
totally disgree. I have NEVER posted to a newsgroup which wasn't relivant.

For example, the other day I sent a message to 'alt.internet' regarding the
ISP 'FreeOnline'. Chris claimed that it wasn't relivant to that newsgroup. I
believe you'll find the word 'internet' and 'ISP' actally do have quite a
lot in common.

And again, in this topic, don't you think that a 3D card like Rendition
belong in newsgroups like 'alt.comp.periphs.videocards.ati' and what about
'alt.computer', or 'alt.games.3dfx'. Perhaps the only one which YOU might
not think is relivant but I DO is the 'rec.autos.simulators', and that's
simply because a couple of my racing games support Renditon cards as well as
3Dfx, and I wanted to know the difference.

Sorry Chris, but it really is that simple. I have not cross posted to 'too
many' newsgroups. Not even close! And I certainly haven't sent messages to
irrelivant newsgroups.

If, for example, I had posted a message about Rendition cards to
alt.music.aerosmith then yes, by all means, you'd have the right to
complain. But right here, right now, in this topic and all my previous ones,
you don't.

Again, it's that simple!

Of course i ***ing well have!  How the ***y hell do you think I made

What has an ATI Ng got to do with Rendition cards then??!

A completely stupid thing to do!

I think that the amount of answers you got in reply to this post serves
my point very well (ie. NONE!)

Yes. . but how do a bunch of Yanks (and btw there is hardly any posts in
that NG!) know about UK ISP's?

No I don't!  Does ATI make rendition cards then??  Why don't you do a bit
of researching on Dejanews first before boring the ***out of us with
your pointless and aimless questions! (Notice how no-one ever really
replies to your Ng posts!)

The difference about WHAT exactly??

It's simple for one to deduce you haven't a CLUE what you're talking
about!

Yes you have!

. . .that you're a PRAT?  Yes, thought so!

<snip the flames>

I own Rendition and 3DFX cards so I was hoping that this thread might
contain some usefull information. Unfortunately after the first few posts this
thread degenerated into a flame war.

You guys obviously don't seem to like each other and it's unlikely that you
will come to any kind of agreement on crossposting. Why don't you just
killfile each other and put an end to the whole argument?

It was amongst other things basically a question about which is the best
Rendition card and whether there was any advantages over a Voodoo card
for certain games.

I think Adam got the information that he was looking for. Personally I don't
need any help with my cards. I just like to stay informed about Rendition
and 3Dfx cards. You never know when you might find out about new drivers
or usefull utilities or tweeks. I know that there are numerous web pages for
that stuff and I do check them but occasionally newsgroups can be a
valuable source of new information.

There actually is no NG that corresponds to Rendition cards, however, alt.computer
is the only one even CLOSE to topic. <the ati, 3DFX, and autos.sinulators are
completely lame!>
