Well, they have the base model CDS2, which is $549, and for
performance per penny, way above the TSW.  I guess you would like
Ferrari to start making a Geo?

For $1,395, I could could a beat up used car (preferably an El Camino), get
drunk, and speed around a schoolyard yelling "Damn that Jeff Gordon," and
have alot more fun than I would with $1,395 sterring wheel. I'll stick to
my T2 - I don't see value in the additional $1,295.

"WAY" above the perfomance of a TSW?

I tested all of the wheels and found the ECCI to be "the equal" of the TSW
and at a much higher price. The TSW did some things better, the ECCI others
- overall they were pretty much the same.

From what basis do you come to this conclusion?  I have a TSW,
and have tried the ECCI.  I'm glad that my money went to Thomas
Enterprises.  I'm not knocking the ECCI, it's a nice piece of
equipment.  But, after giving it a try, IMO the only difference in the
two is some flashyness and price.  Personally, I didn't like having to
shift from the steering wheel.  This forced me to drive with two hands
which I _really_ didn't like.  Although, my sim of choice is Nascar.
If I really got into the other racing sims, I may have a different
opinion on the wheel shifter issue.  But, even then if I had need for
wheel shifting, I'd buy the TSW with the paddle shifters.
There were several different things that I didn't like about the more
expensive wheel.  It is one BULKY unit.  For my particular desk setup,
it would be impossible to see my moniter.  Anyway, I'd like to know
what your "price per penny" means.  What great mechanical ability and
precision does your unit have that the TSW does not?  The TSW has
a _lifetime_ warranty on it's equipment, does yours?  IMO your
statement should've read "glamour per penny".
And for the record.....I'm not flaming the ECCI, or it's
owners, it is a nice wheel.

Shawn,
My main reason for getting the ECCI was one thing Reliability. Of all
the spring pedals that have been broken on T2's, I knew I didn't want
that happening to me in the middle of a points hunt<G>

Ah comeon, you can learn to type on the keyboard when its on your far
right<G>

>Alex

I have the wheel/pedal unit that came with the CDS2!  I have compared,
and believe me, the CDS2 is better.  The review at SIMRACING is out of
date, done on the original.  It is not only pretty(which I don't care
about either), but it does make the sim even more realistic.  Can you
change the amount of wheel resistance on your TSW?  Can you change the
wheel lock with the turn of a knob?  I drive all the sims, and
changing from a road course to an oval without changing these things
is pure torture now that I have the ability.  I gave my T2 away to a
buddy, and when I go to his house to help him with a sim, I can't
drive near as well as I can on the CDS2.  I can't believe I used that
thing for so long!  I am not saying you don't have a fine wheel(10x
better than T2), but just because it is out of your price range, you
don't have to bash it.

Prove what you say before you slam an excellent quality, hand built and
reasonably priced control set that ordinary people can afford. BTW where

I agree, that would be fun.  But that's not really the point is it?  Sure,
I could buy a Mad Catz, but it's comforting to know that others are making
the "Ferrari" of driving wheels available.  If it were not for Extreme
Competition and others pushing the envelope, what would Thrustmaster have
to compare themselves against?

Slam?  If you can find a sentence I wrote that slammed your product
then sue me.  I quote myself " I am not saying you don't have a fine
wheel(10x better than T2)."  And are you calling me out of the
ordinary?  I am a single 26 year old hetero*** male who does NOT
live with his  mommy, and I make less than 30k a year.  I spend maybe
5-10 hours a week driving sims, and I don't appreciate the fact that
you sent me an e-mail apologizing for your reply, but do not post it
here for all to see.  From now on, I will read the ng's before my
mail!

Well for the price of a MadCatz (which I think is a great whell FOR it's
price) do you get a real difference in laps for all the money spent on
the ECC wheel?  If I could run 10mph more than with a Madcatz, that
would be a good wheel.  But for the confort and the 0.1 mph that you can
do faster, it's not worth 1200$ more.  I'm not telling it's not a great
wheel (I think it's one of the best, with the HyperStimulator).  It's
just that (and per exemple) if you take the Madcatz, for 1200$ less you
can have 75% of what the ECC does.  And it's not 75% of the ECC price!!!

Yes, actually I do.  I also have had a MadCatz, a T2, and the
opportunity to use a TSW.  Comparing the TSW to the ECC is
understandable, but please, untill you have used one, do not compare
an ECC unit to a plastic, massed produced unit.

Like I said in the previous post, the CDS2 is more than half the price
of the CDS5000.  And again, untill you try one, don't say it is not
worth it.  It will last longer than 10 Madcatz's, and then how much
would you have spent?

Boy you guys are being pretty tough on the extreme wheel. Keep in mind this
is not the only wheel that Extreme sells. This is a "special order" only
wheel that is for teh guy that want to out do his neighbor.

His other wheels are half the cost, which is still expensive. I own an
extreme wheel that I bought about a year ago. And I guarantee it will
outlast me. There is NO wheel built with higher quality, fit and finish
than the extreme. Sure it is expensive, but so are Ferrari's. To much money
???  buy a T-1....
