What sound card is a good choice these days? I'm using an original S/B Live
Value and feel like a change. I think some time ago I read good comments
here (?) about the Philips soundcards. Anyone care to give their 2 cents
worth?
              TIA...

i just had to replace my sb live value, it died.  i was decideing if i should
get another one, the hercules ht xp or the audigy de.  i ended up getting
another live value.  for $85 it does everything i need (the digital out :).
$200 for the audigy and $265 for the hercules is too expensive.  they're just
bloat ware.

i didn't want to buy a new card till dolby digital encodeing became available
but i couldn't go without sound.
