say on audigy2 sound card? I am wondering if the integrated sound card is
using a lot of CPU power when running N2003.
I have a Asus nForce2 MB.
I have a Asus nForce2 MB.
The performance hit with both is negligable. I'm damned if I can find the
reference now - but I'm fairly sure - that (amazingly) the nForce 2 onboard
sound ( which is very very good ) came out better than the Audigy. I'm not
sure about the audigy 2 however.

Diff between on board on my K7S5A and Audigy 2 is so negligable as to be
zero cause for concern. May have been a little better with on-board in GPL,
but it's hard to get a real benchmark. The on-board sound didn't work for
me in N2002, however, and I like the 3d sound :-)
Don't worry about buying a soundcard unless you want specific features that
the soundcard has. Certainly don't buy for performance reasons.

Most on-board sound cards are 'soft cards'. They are more software
controllers than they are hardware controllers.
Not all, but most.
I think the nForce 2 is one of the better on-board solutions though.
