NFS vs. NFS2

Here's what I've deduced:

If you play sim racers, you like NFS
If you play arcade racers, you like NFS2.

I like NFS2. I played the demo of NFS and thought it sucked cause the car
spun around every time you tried to turn too fast. I personally hate sims
cause if you go too fast, you can't control the car, i.e. F1RS, you gotta
slow down to 2 MPH (I'm exaggerating) to turn the corners. I think EA is
turning the NFS series into a mainly arcade game because arcade games allow
you to go faster (Need for SPEED). But NFS3 will have a sim mode, and it
probably will be a lot more like NFS, to address the complaints some people
had about NFS2 (just like they brought the cops back). So I think everyone
will end up happy. Remember, it's PRE-BETA, and you can't judge much from
it, it can only get better. Hmm, that was longer than I thought it would be.

Hey genius... it was a cross post that was also in a 3dfx newsgroup.
People have different tastes.  This guy wants to go fast all the
time.  so let him.  He very astutely pointed out that this version
should satisfy everyone.  Posts like yours really make me wonder
about the evolution of man...

Is this for sure?  I thought the handling in NFS1 was GREAT.  Are they also
bringing back the***pit view?  I had dismissed NFS3, 'cause I thought it
would be more of NFS2, but now I'm interested.

Yes, dashboards will be back in NFS3 (if you have enough video ram).

Where did you read that it is RAM dependent?

I like "realistic arcade racers", so NFS 1 was my favourite PC game of
all time. However, I loathed NFS2SE even though I do like a GOOD
arcade racer.

I hope so (downloading the demo as I write).

In the Voodoo magazine. Although, that article was writen awhile back. It
does not say how much is enough though.

Most people I know play that way, especially console gamers. I love being
able to see the car. I constantly switch views during a race, got the camera
button right above accelerate. No one's forcing you to use it.

>What was wrong with NFS2SE?

Driving model was crappy, all the cars felt the same, trucks
absolutely sucked, no interesting gameplay (i.e., cops or something),
graphics were flashy but non-functional in important areas (the
infamous backwards road textures at high speeds).

I won't play without using my Voodoo! Use the Voodoo, and flying behind
the car
nonsense is the only option in NFS2 SE... That's why it was bad, for me.
