Racing Legends will be completed no matter what, we have come this far and we
are certainly not about to give up now.

I initially read into the on-line shop incorrectly.  My bad.  Keep on keepin on
Westies.  Bring on the demo - I'll buy in.

Agreed.. I know I've only been here for about a year now and I don't know
the history RAS seems to have with these West guys.

But I gotta say, all the negativity on this board towards RL would really
suck if I was in their position. I mean, they are trying to make a game for
us, it'd just be really discouraging reading on RAS people telling newbies
how the game is "never going to come out" and all that.

Regardless of history, these guys are making a racing game! How cool is
that??? I'd LOVE to be in their position, and I'd do my best to please
people on RAS who are so serious about racing sims. I'd feel so bad reading
some of the remarks every day that I'd almost want to give up, y'know?

Who knows, with the support from some of the amazing drivers and intelligent
people in here, who knows what this game could be like? A new racing sim is
cool with me.

Would you expect them to say any different? Come on, use your brain.
They have gotten so desperate for cash they are selling friggin' teddy
bears on their website. Do you actually think that they would say "Well,
we really don't think that RL is ever going to be completed either..."

They have been issuing empty promises for 3 years. You are going to
start believing them now?

lol      I like Type-R's post where he says they should release the beta if
they want an influx of funds, even if it is one car.  LOL  Well gee, that's
a great idea, if only there was anything to use as a beta.   Pictures don't
make a car go round.       :-)

I cannot believe how gullible so many folks related to this deal are.  I
think this is some cruel joke on the sim racing community, or just two guys
who have bitten off more than they can chew.

Well I don't know about you, but I bet there is a lot of people like me that
have thrown away a bunch of money on ***Racing Sims....I mean Arcade
Racing Games. I am willing to gamble on this one to become reality!

I want a Bear, A Hat and a Shirt.  Oh yeah, put my name down for a pair of
the RL racing Slippers too!

The car graphics on the front page are awfully familiar. Hmmm.

I have noticed a lot of knockers for the West brothers sim as well.
OK so maybe things will change in the future and they will fall in a heap,
maybe not, but why not at least give them a fair go?
The LFS guys have done a pretty good job IMHO.
The only diffences between them and the Wests are the following:
1. Scawen, Eric and Victor, just kept the project quiet until Beta stage,
probably because of all the flack that the Westies have copped.
2. The LFS guys have got one more guy than the Wests, but it seems like
Victor is taking care of the music and sound, which is probably a more
minor role than is required to do the Graphics & Game Code.
As The LFS guys stated in the interview, when asked how they can work so
quickly with just 3 guys, They are not tied down by the Political overheads
associated with a larger Company like Papy for example. When they need to
change code, they just change it, they don't have to wait for a week to get
approval via meetings with all of the other departments etc.
I know one thing for shore, if RL is half of the Sim that the Wests are
planing for it to be, then they have got my money.
So in conclusion, I am not into Teddy Bears but put me down for a T shirt
and a cap.
After all, even if they don't make it, (and I very much hope that they do)
just think about the T shirts as a talking point at the Pub with the boys
over a Bourbon or 2. ........
Where did you get the T shirt from Darf? .....Oh I got that from The West
Brothers web Site.....They were a couple of Guys that were creating their
own racing Simulator ....and what happened was....Yada Yada Yada :-)

There I go talking about Bourban again Jan :-)

"They are not tied down by the Political overheads

Just remember that is a two way street.  With no management in place a on
project its very easy to go off on tangents or make unneeded changes.  When
your so close to a project it is easy to have blinders on.  Another area of
concern on small team development projects is "group think" where in people
get into the same mind set and do not question the direction things are
headed.  I am not saying this will happen on RL but it is a very common
problem in software development.  There is a lot more to software
development than a couple guys sitting writing code all day.

As for the concept of the online store that isn't a bad idea and a good way
to raise some small funds, however I cannot imagine making enough on these
items (even if they make $5 a piece profit) to fund the development.  It
needs to be seen as a means of promotion and nothing more.  If this is truly
only a 2 man team who will be fulfilling orders for the store, handling
shipping, getting products made, not to mention maintaining the website and
other day to day activities.  Being involved in software development myself
and running my own company I can tell you that a lot of time is used up on
tasks not directly related to actually producing code.

I wish the West the best but again all they have produced to date is
marketing material.  I think if they can get out even a basic demo it would
got a long way in winning over a suspicious group and end a lot of this
speculation.

Not even a full retail CD waved in their faces would convince some people
that it's not an elaborate hoax.  Some people are worse than Apollo
*** theorists round here.

Why would they even have to state this?

The fact that they even say this is worrysome enough!

That's because they won't be using a FULL cd, but one of those credit
card sized thingmajobs.
If there are shadows in two directions, what does that say about bouncing
around on the moon?  :)

Some people are realists, after all these years we have not seen a thing and
we won't . I hope
I'm wrong I would love to see this project materailize, but we have been
down this road before
and it feels to familar. The Wests are putting the cart before the horse,
with pricing and promotion
stuff and not even having produced a sim yet. Its just plain BS pure and
simple. Lets see a Demo!
Surly they have had enough time (years) to have some basic gound work
completed on somthing real.
Now go buy a teddy bear. :)

I know, the light from the sun, bounced off the Lunar Module, causing a
shadow from one direction, and the direct sun light caused the shadow from
the other direction?
Sorry ...I had better go and have another Bourbon, Hey Jan ?

The onlineshop is there because ppl asked for it.
The wests never issued any promises about wsc or rl except they wanted to
finish the stated projects. The silly rumours and expextations have ALL
come
from idiots in the sim racing community. Many of the stupid ppl in here and
on rsc/highgear and in vroc created all the various rumours...not the wests
 themselves
