CMR & Slow Menu's

Hi,
I have a Pentium 233MMX, 128meg ram, Matrox Mystique & Voodoo 1 3Dfx
card running Win98. Colin McRae Rally runs fine but the menu's in the
game are as slow as a wet week which is caused by the Matrox card. Has
anybody heard of a fix for this problem? It is a great game but this
problem is making it un-playable.

Thanks in Advance, Darren :-)

Someone suggested earlier that turning off all the sound options will do the
trick - I haven't tried it myself yet.

Hi Darren

Yes its those matrox drivers, there's something in the readme with CMR about
which version is buggy, 3.82 drivers OK but 4.11 makes the menus run slowly. I
think the drivers are on the CMR cd ?

Cheers
Pete

Hi,

I got the same problem and installed the matrox drivers from the cmr-disk -
and it didnt help - I would be glad if someone could give me a hand - (I
thought it has something to do with the cd-rom-drive but the No-CD patch
didnt change it either nor did the CMr-Patch from Codemasters)

I received this e-mail from Joe Comerford :-

Darren,

I had the same problem but with a Matrox Millenium.  Somewhere on
this group somebody posted the answer that worked for me so here
goes.

Open Control Panel and click on the System Icon.  Now click the
Performance tab, and then the graphics pickbox.  You should now
see a slider for hardware acceleration.  If you are all the way
to the right (maximum acceleration), then move the slider two
notches to the left.  This totally fixed the menu problem for
me.  I haven't noticed that it affected anything else, but if it
does it is very easy to change it back.

Let me know how you make out.

Joe

That cured it for me, My O/C Celery was also slow in the menus,
turning down the hardware acceleration sorted it!!!

Thanks
