the next version. I remember EA buying the F1 license for several years and
they were supposed to release a new version every year.
Does anyone know the roadmap for these titles?

People mention flaws with some of the features of this
title, but seem to like the racing. If a newer and better
version is on the way, I'll wait.

But the real life F1 2002 has not even started yet.

F1 2001 was released at the 2nd race of 2001's season if I recall
correctly. Anyway, F1 2002 is due for release in May I believe..

This all so simple. To devine the release date of EA's F1 2001, all you
need to know is the release date of Hasbro's GP4. In whatever state F1 2002
is two weeks before that date, will be the release date.
(now I will go out on a limb and guess that F1 2002 will NOT be much
different than 2001.) A season update with some code enhancements most
likely.

You're very probably right.. but I hope they get rid of the controller
problems, all of those big but oh-so easy to fix flaws (setup saving
system anyone) and I hope they get rid of the overall beta feeling..
Oh, some decent multiplayer would be cool too! I still have a problem
believing the 'multiplayer stinks because we have to make it stink
because of the FIA' crap. If the FIA does not allow more than 6
players online, at least make the game stable with 6 players.

You may be right, but that's the great thing about F12001 - the hard work
has been done. All it really needs now is some enhancements and
refinements. On the other hand, GP3 will need a complete overhaul if it is
to compete...

No way. Remember Alesi changed team near the end of the season and that was
captured in F1 2001.

I can name at least three shops in NZ in my area that have copies of F1
2001 available.
Yep. The racing is fun and the cars feel great. And of course with the GT
2001 mod it is incredible value for money. Much much better than the GP3
type game. How anyone can release a game where all the cars are identical
apart from looks is delusional (although people seem to buy it anyway -
go figure).
