If so what's your take on the big news? While I understand the reasons
behind the merger OLR has never impressed me and I doubt I'll be switching
over. Any other Flashpoint type leagues around?

I love OLR,  I just cancelled my account last week due to the lack of
racing.   Bringing flashpoint over could increase the numbers for open
racing and leagues.  I don't know much about Flashpoint in general, but it
has a huge number of racers.

I always found the OLR service in general to be very good.

I never could get in. That jive java ***wouldn't work thru my Linksys even
after changing all the settings OLR said to do with it.

Never worked for me either so I dropped it.  Don't need the extra headache
of all that when Sierra works fine for leagues.

No problem whatsoever with Java and I run through a Netgear RT314
router/switch as well as ZoneAlarm Pro with my DSL connection.

I know there are others racing with Linksys routers.

I wish Flashpoint racers all the best.   I tried to get into the OLR rooms
and it was a
nightmare from the very slow java script running on the server with only 20
users.. I cant
imagine whats its gonna be like with 1000 or more..   I predict they will
have to totally
revamp the user interface..

I have been involved with the "beta test" of the OLR / FlashPoint merger.  I
admit that the Sierra interface is certainly ample for a league.  The real
advantage with the merger is the ability for members to create practice
races anytime they want.  Teams will be able to practice together also.  I
use a linksys router, and have had zero problems getting OLR to work with my
system.

This merger should increase the numbers to about 1500 people.  There are
plans for a fixed setup series, much like the Oscar Series that is now a
part of FlashPoint.  Add to that the upcoming switch to a Tier 1 provider
for the OLR servers, and I think it's a great deal.

Granted, it will take some getting used to, but in the end, I think it may
work out OK.

No problems with my Netgear RT314 router either and Windows XP.  Got a
couple errors when I first signed up many months ago, but a quick five
minutes got it all working and never have any problems.  No problems with
any of the java stuff and all loads fast.

http://www.racesimcentral.net/;Covers most
errors people get, if not hit up one of the admins in the arenas.  They
usually will work with you to figure it out.  Guess you would have to e-mail
them if the arena doesn't load though.

BTW Scott, when is our next OLRI race??   :)
