I, like many of you, have suffered the disappointment (and panic, at
first) of a broken spring on my T2. While Thrustmasters policy on
replacing broken springs is great, it sure is inconvenient to regularly
(i.e every few months or so for me) take the T2 apart and replace the
spring(s).
I thought it might be helpful to pass along my method for, hopefully,
reducing the stress on the accelerator spring, which appears to be the
more vulnerable to stress failure. I simply took a s***1 1/2" by 1
1/2" block, cut a notch in it at the point where the accelerator's arm
extends from the base, and fastened it to the T2 baseplate with two
sheet metal screws (it was necessary to drill two holes in the baseplate
in order to secure the block. I have attached a picture to illustrate.
I have seen many suggestions on how to "save" the springs, but few if
any detailed explanations. I hope this helps someone out.
Happy racin!
