When I try to run Colin mcRae Rally I get the intro's then the game quits
and says "This application must be run from the original disk..".
I guess this is some sort of protection but it is a genuine CD - I bought it
from game today along with gpl.

Any suggestions would be welcome

Yep, get the same thing on my system, tried the tec help line , but its a
b~#!!'~#y answer phone great!!

I Tried to install it from mu CDR and it works although disk access is slow.
It must be to do with the CD Rom drive, mines a brand new Samsung 32x

I Mean My Yamaha CDRW Drive - not a copy ...

Thats funny because mine is the same make, although it works on my p200 with
a 8x samsung

I have my suspicions that Codies are using a new copy protection scheme to
stop people burning copies of the CD. If you look at it with some cd writer
software, the system cannot read certains tracks from the original cd. I am
all for stopping piracy, but if my guess is right they may have upset a lot
of genuine customers who wanted to enjoy their product, but because their CD
rom reader is of a particular type, cannot. Just a guess ?
