I just downloaded the win98 version of GPL.  After playing it for 30-45mins.  I
just exited to windows.  I remember reading about this before, is there a fix
for it?

I'm not sure if there is another issue but I do know heat can cause it
to bounce back to windows. Are you overclocking your CPU or videocard?
Even if you're not overclocking some of the newer vidcards can get
pretty hot. If your case doesn't have good cooling/ventilation it can
eventually cause you to get booted back to Windows. Try removing your
case cover and turning a large fan on your system and see if it still
bounces you out of the game.

IF that fixes it, then you might consider studying some efficient case
cooling methods..... (All fans blowing in same direction, fan in front
to pull in cool air, exhaust fan(s), reverse PS fan (if it is working
against front fan, Bigger CPU heatsink and/or fan, Vid Card heatsink
and/or fan, custom blowers to focus air on hot spots....) Plus possibly
lessening any overclocking.

Yeas  me to.. The sounds are still there...but The picture freezes
and you have to reboot....

Shame... apart from that the game is fab..
