GPLRank - mixed feelings

Well, I've fought my rank down from a laughable 259.74 to a still-pathetic
131.25, and you thought that would feel good, wouldn't you?

Well, it did for a while, until the supposed benchmark for us slowpokes, a
certain Mr Pickett, ups his rank again and gets ever closer to the magical
minus figure, thus making a complete mockery of the St. Eldred's Cup!  If
you're reading this, sir, I sincerely hope you DON'T get lucky at the
'Ring!!! <g>

So I suppose, for the moment, my goals should be:

Make 107% or better against the Papy benchmarks (Kyalami, Mosport and
<cringe> Nurburgring still to do)

Drop my rank to less than 100 (the above should sort that)

Try and beat at least ONE of Eldred's times (please stop driving at the Glen
and Monza!)

Ho hum.

p.s. Eldred: when are you going to upload your Monza p.b. lap on your site??

I checked the 'best theoretical lap' in ReplayAnalyzer. My current PB is 8:32.
My perfect lap at the Ring would only be 8:30.  Not much of an improvement...
:(

I didn't realize it wasn't there...?
<checks website files>
There's already a Lotus lap of 1:29.21, and a BRM lap of...slower than that.<g>
Were you looking for another car?

Er, isn't your new pb (with the Lotus) a 01:28.66?

Would it cheer you to hear that in my view anyone under 1:30 at Monza
is fast?
(This track needs no memory, just pure driver skill - I'm stuck at
1:31!).
Drive Rouen, Mexico, Spa, Kyalami and Mosport and you're going to be
rocketing past my 110 rank into double figures.
Alternatively, having made 107%, this gives you the right to race. I
find I put up better times racing than tooling around on my own - a
blue Honda coming up behind does wonders for motivation - "No! I'll
not have that tank in front of me!"

improvement...

haha come on eldred, all that option does is remove vertical glitches in
playbacks, in other words start attacking the track more and your times will
drop.

Funny you should mention that. I had a PB of 8:30.4x for seemingly ages with a theoretical PB (sector based) of 8:29.xx.
Next time I had a good lap (lots of laps later) I did my current 8:28.48
with a bad 4th sector. Damn, 2 seconds lost there. :-(

I did make two changes:
1) Fully linear steering with 0% deadzones and 13:1! (Yes, it works!)
2) Attacking out of corners instead of trying to brake really late.
(Thanx Maxx).

Btw, you are within striking range of Jan "M-16" Verschueren.

Cheers,
Jens

How can you attack the track MORE when you're just barely*** on as it IS?
I don't see(right now) how I can get through it any faster.
