N4-Need Help with First Few Laps

by Paul Jage » Sun, 21 Oct 2001 17:31:52

Love playing Nascar 4 (only play it offline), but I really struggle with the
first few laps of a race. If I start cautiously, to allow the tires to heat
up and stop myself spinning out, the rest of the cars are way ahead by turn
3/4. If instead I try and keep up with them from the start, then I find
there is a 90% chance of quickly loosing grip and spinning out!. Its almost
as if the AI cars start with their tires already at optimum temp allowing
them to drive quickly from the outset.

I normally play at 95%-97% AI strength, and don't really want to lower this,
as the rest of the race is just not challenging enough. Could some kind
person give me advice on how I can improve my driving style to make me more
competitive for laps 1-3 (at the moment I am learning Lowes)..

Thanks.

Go here and download these setups http://www.vehiclecraft.com/n4/
If you cant run fast with these setups, then you will not run fast at
all.  I assume you have a wheel and pedals.

Well, the AI cars actually could have their tires up to optimum temp from
the start..........they did in earlier versions, don't know about N4.

Only advice I can give is to get a stable, not necessarily fast, setup.
If you get a stable one, the speed will come on it's own.
