Might I suggest we move this discussion to the top?

Sean suggested(if I understood correctly) a 'heat' race and having drivers
transfer to the 'main.  While that might work, it may be too much to
coordinate.  Is there any reason we couldn't have a practice session(or 2)
during the week, and let some of the hotshoes ride shotgun?  Getting
immediate
feedback on driving lines, brake/throttle points, etc. might help...

And the more I think of it, the more I worry that people wouldn't have time to
run practice races, either...

I like having a practice server up.  I think what would be nice is a soft
practice, in other words a time several of us think we *might* make it.
That way we would have a better chance of at least working with others on
the track. Maybe a couple of times, you know?

John, couldnt you set the practice time limit longer or is it already at
max?

Sure, not a problem.  Another thing that an admin in another league suggested
once was a 'driving school'.  A faster driver could watch a 'student' drive,
and give instant feedback via Roger Wilco, or similar program.  I'm sure it
would help to have an outside voice giving real-rime tips...
