Just got GPL...question about steering wheel

by Ron » Thu, 25 Jan 2001 09:42:44

Hi All,

After reading the reviews here for a year I went out and bought it.  I
really like the physics, hard as hell :)

One problem though, I can't assign the shift paddles from my microsoft
FF USB wheel to the game.  I searched deja for info, but there is so much
I couldn't sort it well to narrow it down.  If anyone has a hint I would
appreciate it.

Also, on the use of the clutch...how do most of you set it up?  Do you
have to set it up?

Thanks,

Ron.

I know. I just started playing it two weeks ago.
Check out this page. You can upload and compare your times to those of
others. They might be a hell of a lot better but it is fun anyway.

Get the latest patch from www.papy.com
That should make it work.

If that doesn't work: assign the paddles to keys on your keybord using the
game controller software.

There is an auto clutch in the game so it isn't essential. It is usefull
when at the start and when spinning.

Thanks for the response,

I fixed the steering wheel.  I had to set it as the first controller.
The buttons simply were too highly numbered and GPL couldn't see them.
I wish I had another pedal so I could use it as a clutch, but it seems
that it really isn't needed.

I had downloaded the original demo before the game was released and
wasn't impressed by it.  Then again I didn't have steering wheel back
then either.  Anyway, I never bought the game because of the demo.  Wish
I had, it is really a blast.

Any chance Papyrus is going to do a sequel ever?  You would think
their Nascar titles would keep enough money coming in to do something
cool like GPL 2.

Thanks,

Ron.
