Tsw2 In Windows Xp?

by Randall Johnso » Tue, 09 Apr 2002 01:02:19

I have a Tsw2 stock with split axis and USB adapter. I was having a problem
with at least every other race in Nascar4 or Nascar2002 it would just go to
zero throttle and 100 percent brake. This would just slam me into the wall.
Everyone I know said get some new pots. Now with the new pots I get random
50 percent throttle and 50 percent brake. No wrecking so far but does become
a big problem in online races with other cars around. Is this a problem with
Windows XP or could there be something else. Before I waist my time setting
up a duel boot system adding Windows 98 to find out its not Xp thought I
would just ask here to see if you guys had any ideas. Thomas Superwheel says
its Xp,
Microsoft says its the wheel and also added they dont support generic
equipment. lol  :)

When using WinXP and a TSW2 you either have to downgrade to the 250k ohm
pots (higher grade SPEC 50k ohm pots come standard in the unit) and if using
it on a gameport, they recommend trying the USB adapter as well. While I was
using XP (computer creashed on eve of league startup and I only had time to
get Win98SE back up and running) I had the ssame problem. I 'downgraded' to
the 250k ohm pots and all my problems went away. I have to agree with
Thomas, its Win XP, and replacing 3 $12 pots was better than replacing the
OS at the time.

Just stay away from XP. 9x (heck, even ME if you're so
inclined) is perfect for ***, so avoid the MS tax for now,
take XP back to the shop you bought it from and stick with 98SE
or whatever.

For productivity work, use Linux. ;-)

Cheers,
