Hi Folks,
        I've just bought GP4 but for some strange reason it sets all the
control allocations to greyed out/readonly. Is there any way to enable
them to allow me to assign the gear shifts to something usable?

I think you need to create a new profile - one of the "unused" slots.
Then select what you like and save the profile.
