IndyCar II Upgrade

IndyCar II Upgrade

by Steve Full » Mon, 30 Sep 1996 04:00:00

A little over a month after I purchased IndyCar II (DOS Only) I walked
into a local computer store to see a new version that has both the DOS
and Win95 executables on it. I was a little miffed, but haven't had an
opportunity to pursue the matter any further until now.

What do I have to do to get the CD with BOTH versions on it? I am hoping
that Papyrus will do what I consider the RIGHT thing and allow me to
exchange the disk for the new one at no charge.

Has anyone else done this?

Second question: Where is Papyrus' www site now? I can't find mention of
Indycar II on the Sierra site at all...

Is it worth the trouble?  Does ICRII run as well with the patch as it
does just
 by restarting in DOS mode?

I think you missed your chance.  Sierra will let you exchange any of
their products within 30 days for another of their products.  You would
have to pay shipping one way (I think).  However, they will let you
upgrade your CD past the 30 days for $15.00 (plus sending in the old
CD).

It's there, but it must be getting harder and harder to find.  Try
Sierra's Search for Papyrus and Indycar.

BTW:  A Win95 upgrade patch from the DOS version is available.  However,
it will require a full Hard Disk installation.  It is at the following
URL:
        ftp://ftp.sierra.com/pub/sierra/patches/sports-sim/icr2win.exe

My own personal opinion is no.  It is nice to see some of the added file
features/stats/replay.  The paintkit for Windows is greatly improved
over the DOS version.  But for me DOS is still the way to go.  Looks
like Papyrus agrees as NASCAR2 is going to DOS also.
