Indycar II?

Indycar II?

What is this I here about an Indycar II?  How could you improve on a product
like IndyCar Racing?  Besides, everyone has already driven the IndyCar
circuits.  I always assumed that Papyrus' next logical step was something like
Formula One Racing.

P.S. How in the hell do you get speeds like 145 at Michigan.  I have tried
everything I know and the most I can get is 135.938 mph.

P.P.S. I believe that Papyrus should try to keep the frame rate up for IndyCar
II and not the system requirements.

I quess you mean 245 and 235?

Few tricks:
- set temperature to 120 degrees (+2-3 mph if used with proper setup)
- use Menard/Buick engine (+1 mph)
- hug the inside line between turns 3 and 2 (there's only one 360
  degree turn in Michigan)
- set wings close to 3.00 degrees (maybe 3.15F/3.00R depending on driving
  style)
- use stiff shocks
- use three top gears spaced at 0.1 or 0.2 step intervals (try to keep
engine revs in 8800-9200 range with Menard/Buick)
- try to drive smoothly without too much tire screething (still flat out)

This should give 240+ mph with some practise, the remaining five miles
requires more practise and setup tuning.

Agreed.

Oops, in the P.S. that should be 245 and 235.938 mph.

Thanks a lot.  I tried these few simple tricks today and ran a 241.461, a
great improvement over my previous times.  I can also run above 240
fairly consistently.

They should of course try, but if that was the only objective with ICR 2.0
it wouldn't make any sense. The physical model will be much more complex
and consequently it will be more demanding on the hardware. ICR 2.0 will also
be much more detailed graphic wise. I will buy a Pentium P6 any time if that's
needed to use ICR 2.0. If I can't afford it, I'll buy ICR2 2.0 and wait for
hardware.

Actually, I don't want ICR 2.0 to run well on my DX2/66 if that means ICR 2.0
will be less complex and wonderful. Anyway in SVGA you can forget about everything
below P90. I wish they would include tons of graphics and new details that would
make it as real as possible. Give me all or nothing.

Don't forget that ICR 1.x is almost two years old, they would be reactionary
in their approach to ICR 2.0 if they didn't make the game more demanding on
the hardware. But again they should spend a lot of time optimizing the code,
which they will for certain.

Actually, if ICR 2.0 comes out before Xmas I'll only study part time the following
semester in order to spend as much time as possible with the sim of my life.
And, yes, I am crazy.
