I have a GA586HX mother board ver1.54, w/P166, 512PB, 64MB 60ns EDO
and Intergraph Intense3D (Rendition Verite) video card.

Of the bios versions available on Gigabyte's web page (1.05, 1.07, 1.08,
1.11 and the new 2.3), version 1.05 gives me, by far, the best frame
rates with NASCAR2. My dmatest score is 80mb/s using bios 1.05. All of
the other bios versions give me 40mb/s. The PCI latency setting may be
what's causing the difference but I don't think I can adjust it with
these Award (4.51PG) bios versions.

The Problem:
After flashing the latest version 2.3 bios... AF52.EXE (award flash
program) locks up when I try to reflash version 1.05. I can flash
all versions except 1.05 now and It's the ONLY one I want!

If anybody has any Idea how to get around this problem I sure would
appreciate any help. If you have a GA586HX then beware.

You may have tried this already, but sometimes you have to "walk" the
upgrades backward.  Have you tried flashing to the the BIOS that came
out just after 1.05 and then flashing back to 1.05?

Sometimes you have to find one prior to the one you want that will take
and then flash to 1.05.

Hmmm...I'll look around....1.05 is the oldest on Gigabyte's page.

Does anybody know where I can get an award flash program for the
430HX chipset that is rev 5.31 or greater. It has some extra functions
that allow you to clear some stuff prior to flashing. maybe that would
help (/CC=Clear CMOS, /CP=Clear PnP data (ESCD), /CD=Clear DMI data).

Geez...maybe when I get finished tuning my system to run N2 I'll have
some time to spend on tuning N2 setups ;-)
