I need help with the Digital Edge F1 Sim wheel and pedal set

by Borger Borgerse » Fri, 02 Oct 1998 04:00:00

Today I broke the spring to the accelerator pedal on
my Digital Edge F1 sim wheel and pedal set.  I was
playing F1RS and was leading the race at Monaco as
Michael Schumacher when the spring broke.  Needless
to say I finished the race prematurely hitting a wall at
full speed.  :-)   So, I obviously need to replace the
broken spring.  I therefore have a few questions I
want the answers to.

1.  Where should I order a replacement spring??

Directly from Digital Edge or from my retailer
(Strategic Plus software in UK)?  Have any of
you ordered and received a replacement spring?

2.  How should I install the replacement spring?

Do I have to unscrew some of the screws first etc.
I noticed it's *very* hard to try to extend the spring
by hand so I should obviously put the spring into
it's position in both ends when the spring is not
extended.  But how do I accomplish this?  It looks
like I have to remove the accelerator pedal first.

3,  Should I use the opportunity to order other "fragile"
parts for my F1 sim wheel and pedal set?

Maybe another spring for the brake pedal?  Maybe
     some parts for the wheel?

Do you have any experience with which parts are
     the most likely to break?

E-mail the original manufacturers of the F1 Sim (Interactive racing)
at....

They sell spare part kits for around 10.00 I think? (In mine this
included 1 x spare pot, 2 x springs and some cable ties for the
torsion steering mechanism)

Just use a pair of pliers or something similar (long nose pliers?) to
get a good grip of one end of the spring and pull it off, its as esay
as that!

See above for the spares pack, although I bought mine right after
buying my F1 Sim, I've never yet had to use any of the parts?

See above....

Yeah, the moveable ones!!!! (pots, cable ties, and springs) which is
the same for *all* wheel and pedal sets, thats why they are in the
spares pack?

8-)

Thanks for your information.  I would never have thought
about interactive racing myself.
