Digital Edge F1 Sim Compact Wheel & Pedals

I've just got one of these despite reservations about the pedals - its
cheap and I like the wheel. Has anyone converted the pedal unit to a
split axis unit so that you can brake and accelerate simultaneously? Is
it possible?
If not, I would like to get some CH pedals as mostly everyone rates them

- will these be compatible with my wheel?

Thanks in advance.

just open the cover to the pedals (4 screws) and there should be a switch
inside......

to reduce the pedal rake (there is alot of travel in its standard setup)
adjust the spacers on the outside of the pedal unit, one on each side (a
little bit fiddly as the springs get in the way)

Thanks for your advice, but I'm pretty sure your description is NOT for the
"compact" version of the wheel.

Pez
I think your refering to the F1 Sim pedal box not the cheaper F1 Sim compact
pedal unit ?.

: Thanks for your advice, but I'm pretty sure your description is NOT for the
: "compact" version of the wheel.

I used to have the F1 Sim compact and, to be honest, would advise you
to ditch it ASAP.  The pedals only have about 1-2cm of travel - not
enough for accurate acceleration.  Even new steering pots drift all the
time.  Also, the *** tube "centering" mechanism was dodgy as hell on
mine.

There's no easy way to convert it to split axis - I bought a load of
electrical components to build such a thing but never got round to it.
I bought a MSFF to replace the F1 Sim the third time the pedals broke.

You can pick up the incredible f1sim pedals (the proper ones) for about 50
from www.ballracingdevelopments.com web site (at least i think thats the
address....?)

i recommend these pedals over and above every other set out there

The origional poster is talking about the F1 Sim *COMPACT* pedals, not
the *FULL* size pedals.

You cannot, AFAIK? convert the F1 Sim compact pedals for split axis. The
pedals on this unit are not very good at all, there are small, plastic
and do not have a lot of pedal travel, they act like digital on/off
switches, even though they are actually analogue. The full sized pedals,
are all steel construction, (based on real F1 pedals) have lots of
travel, and are easily adjustable for rake angle, the amount of travel,
resistance and one pedals *** over the other.

But its worth buying the (cheap) compact set-up just for the steering
wheel IMHO. (I have both a full sized F1 Sim *and* an F1 Sim compact, as
well as an old T2).

(> You can pick up the incredible f1sim pedals (the proper ones) for about

According to their website:
BRD Sim - F1 Pedal unit = 99.00 English Pounds, or 139.02 US Dollars.

Still worth it?

Thanks Peter. So can I assume that you use the F1 Sim Compact Wheel with
the F1 Sim  (not compact!) pedals? Do all pedals generally have a small DIN
type plug as per the digital edge one? What I am really getting at, is
could I just plug in some CH pedals to this wheel?

Cheers.

No! I have two pc's set-up at home connected via a LAN. One pc (the
fastest) has the full size F1 Sim and full sized pedals, the other pc,
has the F1 Sim compact with its plastic pedals.

So when pals come over to visit (and we inevitably end up in my study
playing pc games) we fight over who gets the full sized F1 Sim (and the
fastest pc!)

The T2 has been relegated to the "spares" box......Now, if only I had
*three* pc's!!!

The T2 has a sort of standard game port type connector between the wheel
and pedals, not sure about other makes. Sorry, others may know the
answer to this.....?

But you've already answered - FWIW, my PSX wheel and my PC wheel have
both had mini phone socket style connectors, ie rectangular block with 4
or 5 lines, and a plastic hook which you press to remove.
