LWFF + CH pedals. Three questions.

by Jari Jokine » Mon, 17 Apr 2000 04:00:00

I just got my Logitech FF wheel. It came in a red box with SCGT - Made in
China. I am not too happy with the mechanical quality. The wheel has quite a
lot "play" and friction. Anyway here are my questions:

1. I am using the LWFF via USB with CH pro pedals (older model, non USB) via
gameport. Unfortunately it seems to be necessary to connect an analog
joystick to the pedals in order to make Win98 to recognize them. Can this be
avoided? The pedals without a joystick work fine in a DOS test utility.

2. When I drive at some converted tracks like Talladega, I get *** jerks
from the LWFF at some points in the track. Is this normal? I have applied
settings by Alison Hine to Logitech properties and GPL core.ini.

3. I have not applied DXtweak or other similar joystick utilities - still I
don't see any deadzone for the wheel in GPL calibration screen. Is this
normal?

1. Write a complaint email to Logitech-support about the quality. You will get a
response: "Thanks for the feedback and we forwarded the information to the
responsible department" or so.
2. Write another mail to complain about this s..t answer to your first inquiry
and you go into their killfile.
3. Meet me there and lets have a beer together

To the jerks (not the logitech ones):
reduce camber or fiddle with your damping in core.ini.
Read about this at Nunini's site, but don't remember exactely.

Hope this helps

Thanks. Asymmetrical camber seems to be the problem in my case. I wish there
were more symmetrical setups available for download - I can't make my own.
