demo more closely represents the final product and includes the following
major changes:

- Fully compatible with Windows 98
- Ability to access Car Setup functionality
- New graphics options, including Dynamic Skid Marks

New GPL Win98 Demo Available

by doktor » Sat, 24 Oct 1998 04:00:00

Just downloaded it and tested it..

Well done, Papyrus.. this is a demo to be proud of.

We all thought the original was pretty great.. this one blows it away. It is
basically the EXACT same as the FINAL version of GPL, except:
- Limited to "Training Mode" only
- Limited to Watkins Glen track only (No, the Monza demo dat from the
previous demo does NOT work with it.. I tried that already!)
- Still limited to Eagle, Lotus, Brabham

What it DOES improve on the previous demo is (like in the Final version):
- Fully compatible w. Windows 98 (no mods needed!)
- Dynamic Skid Marks (they stay on the track when you lay down the ***)
- Choose the Damage model: None, Novice, Advanced, Realistic
- Car Setup (Garage!!) - fully editable car characteristics, suspension,
rollbars, gears, etc
- Same interface as final version: F2 for Replays, F3 for Options
- Replay feature is the same as the final version's: Speed, temps, etc shown
in Letterbox area
- Team Info is now selectable (all cars can be viewed)
- Great default setups (for Lotus anyhow.. just did a personal all-time
RECORD on my 2nd lap!)
- Replay file of Matt Sentell at Watkins Glen

Wicked...
If you haven't already got GPL, or the previous GPL demo (from April??) then
you will want to get this file! It is 19.2 MB, and well worth the download.
Even though there are no other cars on the track, the demo could stand as a
Watkins Glen - hotlap game/sim - fantastic.

(I'm just e***d because I pulled off a personal best on my 2nd lap!!)

Will it run on a Cyrix chip? I couldn't run the other demo. TP

Neither the demo nor the full retail version will run on older Cyrix
6x86 chips as both require a Pentium CPU instruction that is not
supported.
