2002) for it with some but not great success.
Whilst my driving has improved considerably, my knowledge of car set-ups and
what does what exactly is seriously letting me down.
I know the basics, if I need more acceleration/speed, more/less downforce,
brake bias, centre of gravity and front/rear loads.
What I don't know exactly is what effect the dampers/packers/camber/pressure
etc will have. I've tried playing around with settings with no real
noticeable difference... but then my force feedback only works if I use my
logitech wingman joystick, and I can't drive it with that. I use a rumble
pad at present (Don't start, I can't afford a wheel and don't want yet more
stuff cluttering up an already cramped room, and a pad is useful for many
other games too) and the FF doesn't work with F12001.
For example trying to get the BMW in the ALMS mod to post a reasonably
decent time around Sepang is quite hard, no matter what I try I can't seem
to get under the 2min mark, and I've seen the AI hitting at least 1:58, if I
try using the Corvette, I'm even slower and lose about 2-3 per lap on the
other cars.
I'm confused as to what sort of set-up to choose when qualifying, and that
what changes to make for the actual race, to compensate for extra fuel load,
or changing weather conditions... if it's raining, but will get better
during the race, do I start on wets or inters and hope it's not raining to
hard and I can pull out a lead as the track starts to dry.
The biggest grip though is that in the ALMS mod, pit stops cause me to lose
the race, the car just stops short of my pit and won't move... the only
option is to hit esc and get a DNF.
So can anyone point me to a comprehensive guide to tweaking cars (Using the
ALMS mod most of all)... preferably one that doesn't get too technical with
physics and stuff(not a fave subject), and puts it quite plainly for the
average layman.
Thanks
