I tried editing my car with an outside paint program, but paintkit won't
accept it back in again.  I tried to use very basic colors that are of the
same pallet. I did use some fancy fonts for my lettering, but I didn't
think that would be a problem. Any ideas?  I kept the format the same and
everything.

The basic problem I have had is using something and the colors being
messed up when I imported it back in.  However, I'm having much more
sucess as of lately. Try exporting a car from the carset, load it in
the paint program, save it, and re-import it.  Is it ok? If not,
you've found your problem.  If so, keep going a step at a time  until
you figure out what doinks it.

I'm setting up a web page for NASCAR racing that will include setups
for all tracks, as well as car sets and hints and tips on how to do
great carsets and setups for the different tracks.

Many thanks to Jan Kohl, he has contributed with a quiksetup guide
(that was posted here in r.a.s.), and it is online now. Located at
http://innet.com/~sean/nascar.html

Hey, that's some good advice. I'll try that and see what happens. The car
was a MESS when I imported it back last time.

The only thing I could suggest is to check the file name - but of course
you've done that.
