I read a post here about the T2 wheel having 200K pots which were too
much to handle for soundcard gameports and the CH card (designed for
standard 100K pots sticks). I was noticing that no matter how I
recalibrated my pedals, they were actually working on half the
deflection, a bit more and the wheels locked or I was at max throttle.
Allegedly only Thrustmaster's ACM gamecard was up to the challenge.
(Which made me wonder whether using non-industry standard was the only
possible way to deliver outstanding performance or it was just an evil
plot to sell their own gamecard, well, anyway.. :)
I called all stores where I live that might be carrying it, but no TM
ACM anywhere, I had to order it with full prepaiment. Then I
remembered the old saying: "When all else fails, open the manual". The
CH installation program copies some online docs onto the HD, where I
found that CH actually made some precautions to grab a share of TM's
market. There's a whole paragraph titled "Thrustmaster 150K sticks" :)
So to use the T2 with a CH3 card don't just run "chjoy3.exe" (which
used to give me values between 12 and 13), but run "chjoy3.exe 150".
After recalibrating I found the pedals to be a lot more responsive in
GP2 now, I am able to brake and accelereate a lot more accurately.
Now the post I saw said the T2 had 200K pots whereas the CH manual
says the T2 has 150K ones.Who to trust? Does CH say so because there
is no way for their card to work with 150K pots? I mean does the T2
really have 200K pots, and if I make the jump and preorder the ACM
card at $45 will I have even better control?
Sincerely, Karim
