run dxinfo or dxdiag from either start/run or from any game's CD. First page
will tell you!

If you have 7a installed, this command line trick will still indicate
version 7.  It will not return "7a", as 7a is only an input update.  You
must look at a the input file versions themselves to determine if they are
of the 7a variety.

Of course, you use the command line sytax below to bring up this
information.
