Game controllers in Win 95

This may be a stupid question but...
How do you have two game controllers (joystick & wheel/pedals)
configured in Windows 95 at the same time utilising the same joystick
port?
I have just bought a Microsoft Precision Pro joystick with flight
sim, but I can't get both the new joystick and my T2 configured in
Windows 95 at the same time. What am I not doing??!
Surely I don't have to add my T2 to Control Panel / Game Controllers
every time I wish to play F1RS !??
Any help/advice or constructive flaming appreciated. TIA.

If you've got a Creative Sound Blaster 32 or greater forget it. Lots of
other MIDI/game ports don't support two ports either. Creative used to
advertise support for a "Y" cable (a splitter cable with allowing you to
run two game devices off one port) on an earlier sound card but they don't
any more. I think part of the problem is that lots of modern game devices
use pins that would of been used by secondary ports.
The only solution I've come up with is to by an additional game card.
Thrustmaster make an ISA one, the ATM game card which, mercy be, doesn't
take up an additional IRQ, but can conflict which motherboard resources on
a few motherboards in Windows 95 (I had this problem on an A-BIT board but
it doesn't seem to affect anything so I continue to ignore it!!). I've
installed the ATM on four machines and they all work. You have to disable
the existing MIDI/game port on the sound card and ensure that you select
the Input/Output range 201-209 (usually the second one) otherwise you'll
only get one port!! TM claim that you can you can install several of these
(up to 4, I think) which would allow up to 8 game devices - but would they
all be able to see the screen and would the sim grind to a horrible halt
if it even supported 8 players on the same box?

I think this is another big complaint about W95 and Direct X 5.0. When I
first
installed Direct X 5.0 it changed my W95 Game Controller setup menu. I had
the same problems and the W95 Help files were for the old controller setup
window.
I think you are suppose to keep your controllers in the Game Controllers
list and
just click on the one you want to use , but it doesn't always work for me.
I just got use to selecting "Add" and "Remove" every time I change
controllers.
I'm glad to see that GPL has its own controller setup.

Btw..
I have a Sound Blaster 32 and the game port has all the pins connected
necessary to run one or two joystick setups. The "Y" cables don't connect
all the wires to both ends so some two controller setups don't work.

It's not a stupid question.  Since it's based on the stupid
interface/applet Win95 uses for game controllers.  The applet would
imply that you can have a number of devices "quequed" up and ready to
go.  That is not the case for Win95!  Win95 will only recognize
controller Device #1.

The answer is YES, you do have to add the T2 to the Game Controller as
device #1 to use it.  And yes you will then have to go into the Game
Controller and select your joystick as device #1 for your flight sims.

BTW:  Get Thrustmaster's ProPanel applet to replace the Game Controller
one.  It won't solve your problem, but it has a better calibration
controls in it.

I'm not intending to insult your intelligence, honest.  You can create a
shortcut to "Game Controllers" and put it on your desktop.  That, at least,
cuts a TINY bit of the tedium out of switching back and forth.  That's probably
my most-used shortcut. :-/
