NFS Sound Problems

by pens.. » Mon, 16 Oct 1995 04:00:00

I have a Packard Bell Pentium 90 w 8 MB of RAM and the standard
16-bit sound card.  I use a boot disk to run NFS.  I can't get 16-bit
sound.  When I installed NFS, it detected a SB Pro.  Inside the game, I
tried changing it to a SB 16, but it wouldn't work.  Please tell me how
I can get the 16-bit sound.
Also, I keep getting random sound card and video problems.
Sometimes I get the video and 8-bit sound to work fine, but sometimes
neither work.  It's really annoying.  If they don't work the first
time, I re-boot and re-start the game and they work.

If anyone has experienced this, and or knows how to fix this, please
e-mail me.  Thanks.

ps. NFS Rocks!

NFS Sound Problems

I had a similar problem with my Packard Bell machine.  The only solution I
found was to set the soundcard to emulate the Windows Sound System and
then reinstalling the game.  To set the mode type
c:\sound144\utility\setmode /mss.
