GP3... What`s happening?

by Steve Bal » Wed, 05 Jan 2000 04:00:00

I`ve noticed a few GP3 sites (including the official one) are down.
Does this mean development is slow, stopped or on hold?
Does anyone know the status of this new sim?

Hello Steve,

Same as you...can't wait for GP3 here in the Uk.

But the big news here is that the next issue of PC Gamer has an interview
with Geoff Crammond and exclusive details (and pictures...hopefully!!) of
GP3......

If anyone around the world wants it scanned, just give moi a buzz.

Out around the 20th of Jan 2000....

Ok, well first off teh sites are down but MicroProse or Hasbro, whatever
name they go by now say that the sites are being updated and will be back
online soon. Straight from teh horses mouth( is teh the right saying?  hehe)

And secondly (and this is where I get pissed off and mean), as far as PC
Gamer go...........BULLSHIT!!!  Sorry, for using that language, and Its not
directed at you idav. I am fully convinced that they have advertised the
fact that this will happen but since the August 1998 edition's, this mag has
promised this month after month and i have lost total faith in them... it
seems to be a bt of a way of making people buy the magazine after making
sure its all in a nice package so it can't be opened in the shop, the have
to buy it, go home and then find out that there isn't even an "Oh sorry,
we'll ahve it next month for definate".

Hopefully they will come through this time but once again i serious doubt
it. If they do though give us a shout, Iacan't wait to get some mroe
screenshots.

Hey... I have real hard facts with regard to GP3, a mate of mine knows
the woman who does Geoff Crammonds laundry... Its a definite that GP3
will be go Gold on August 1998.  I just can't wait.... GP2 was the
best, is the best, but GP3 is gonna knock everything else out of the
window!  (well, apart from GPL).  ;-)
DH

PS.  I really do hope it arrives one day!

So do I, but it's a long way to go yet. In the mean time there is no
playable modern F1 sim in the market unfortunately, surely there is a
gap in this market. Isn't F1 the richest and most popular sport in the
world?
That's what I read anyway.
GPL is the best but I can't help thinking about a modern F1 sim using
the same engine, it wouldn't be too difficult to do, but I guess how
difficult it is to do wouldn't be the issue really in this subject.

GP3... What`s happening?

Hi ,
I belive the real reason why Hasbro has shut down their GP3 Site is because
they are having technical difficulties with their FIA license. Hasbro are
really not planning this very well: first, they get rid of MicroProse
factories, and sack many workers, and now their GP3 site is down.
If Hasbro really do have problems with the licensing, we could possibly see
GP3 using fictional cars...but wait for this...if that is so then GP3 will
include Internet Multiplayer, because as it satnds the FIA are refusing use
of TCP/IP protocols with GP3 in their license with Hasbro.
Who knows? Maybe we are just hyping this up too much. I do beleive a new
design is coming for the site though I DO NOT beleive this is the real case
why the site has been down for so long.
Thanks,
Michael

I say***the FAI and their ***y licence, go with fictional cars and let
us do our own thing with car sets we design ourselves, that way Hasbro get
the game on the market without paying into Bernie's coffers and we finally
get the game we have been waiting for.....

Unfortunately our site www.gp3.org has fallen off the web for some reason.
Our elves are presently marching on our web host to insert sticks up their
..errr. Other than the official site disappearing, we've heard no rumours
as to changes in the status of the sim. (and boy do we get rumours)

Cheers
