In this newsgroup...maybe tou don't like it, i have played F1RC, F1-2001,
SCGT, LeMans24h, all NFS, MGPRS2,Grand Prix Legends...and The best one i've
found(so far) is Grand Prix 3, the most realistic, the most playable, very
good graphics, a lot of internet patches and add-ons, regularly updated. I
think it's the best of all, Why do you never talk about it?

Main reason for me, is that the cars are all the same.  No performance
difference.  That, and no online racing :)

We did talk about it back in 1996 when it was called GP2 : ) All kidding
aside, GP3 appears to have fallen out of favour with r.a.s. as many, myself
included, found it dated (25.6 fps!!, blocky graphics, crappy multiplayer)
and too similar to its predecessor. I was e***d when I got it, but after a
few hours I realized it was the exact same game (with some window dressing)
I had played to death a few years earlier. So, like many in here, I turned
my attention to GPL. Papyrus has done a great job with GPL (as all the
beautiful mods available will attest). That was a game that was ahead of its
time. I keep hoping they'll revisit the Indycar series or release the ICR2
source code (like ID has done with Doom, Quake, etc..).

GP3 was regarded by many around here as a dissapointment.  Yes it drives
well, but has some major glaring ommisions.   No real multiplayer being a
big problem around here.  It was also a problem of big expectations that may
have not be totally fulfilled and thus left a taste of 'what could have
been.'
I'm sure you will still find many many users who prefer GP3 vs F1 2001 and
F1RC.  But with GP4 coming out in a couple of months, I think most users
here have moved on.

So far as I can see, most messages posted in RAS fall into the category of:

* GPL is fantastic, I'm so e***d, etc,
* I'm having a problem with xxx (where xxx = the most recently released
game),
* I love/hate xxx (where xxx = the most recently released game),
* Hardware issues.

Note - there might be others that I don't know about - my killfile is quite
large.

GP3 is a fine game.  It doesn't fall into any of these categories, so there
aren't many posts.  Feel free to start up a thread.

I walked by my dad's computer earlier tonight, with my brother on
it...looked like he was playing GP2 again...

"Oh, dusted off Grand Prix 2?"
"Nah, downloaded GP3."

I had to look VERY closely...but yep, it's this >< much above GP2...

Very disappointing, IMO.

>Why do you never talk about it?

Because it's not the best, nor the most realistic, nore the most playable,
nor the one with very good graphics.  Oh, perhaps I'll agree it has lots of
third-party utilities and enhancements, but it will always be flawed at it's
core.

i suppose there's not much talk about it because it doesn't make enough
technical trouble, and it's slowly getting old too (but that's no real
reason).
all the wonderful tools and stuff were available within weeks after it's
been published, so there isn't much to add anymore.

aren't you exaggerating a little bit ? ;)
at least you can see the moving wheel from the other corner of the room, if

I don't think the graphics were really improved with the 2000 update.
But the physics were improved, along with a couple of other things
which I can't remember now.
I hated GP3 but I really liked GP3 2000. Untill F1 2001 came along,
after playing that, GP3 2000 feels 'dead'.

PS After watching the screenshots of GP4, I don't think the graphics
in GP4 will be much better too.. I don't know, but I have a bad
feeling about GP4 :-/

Two words.  No multiplayer.
