VROC - how to get out of cycle when dedicated hosting

by J » Sat, 12 Jun 2004 10:52:16

Hi friends,
after I finally succeeded in setting up a dedicated VROC server in my office
<grin>, I cannot cancel hosting w/o resetting the machine.

The vroc website is mentioning something like "hold the left shift-key once ..."
- that doesn't work.

I also don't get that window (something like "quit hosting: yes-no") others are
telling me about.

Any idea?

TIA

You can log on to the server using the boss password. Then there are several
options:
- type "!shutdown" in chat; this will end GPL. You can then restart through
Vroc again
- to end only the current race, click the red button in GPL. It will ask if
you want to disconnect from the server. When you answer No, you get a second
question "Abandon the race?" If you click Yes here, GPL will cycle to the
next race.

Only way to keep it from jumping to the next race when it running a loop of
races is to repeatedly hit "enter" while pressed the red button with the mouse
(i.e. one hand clicking on the red button, other tapping on the enter key at the
same time). It may take a minute and a number of server restarts, but eventually
you'll get a "Discard..." message after the "Abort race..." message and then
it'll jump back to VROC.
