Flashing Menus in GPL with D3D and Geforce2 MX

by DLK » Thu, 18 Jan 2001 02:34:05

I am testing a Geforce2 MX with the GPL D3D patch and have a problem with
flashing menus when I return to the menus after driving.  If I go to another
menu and return everything is ok again.

I have the latest GPL patches and the newest nvidia drivers.  Other than the
menu problems everything appears to be working ok.

Any ideas?

That happened to me too on a friends machine, but only after I loaded one of
the hi-res fonts.

I experienced flashing menus when upgrading from nvdia 5.22 reference
drivers to nvidia 6.31 reference drivers. Reinstalled the 5.22s, and the
flickering disappeared.

I get the same thing, although it doesn't really bother me too much.  You'll
either have to put up with it, or go back to a pre-detonator 3 driver.  I
believe the 5.xx drivers don't have this problem.

I have GTS2 and am using 6.34 drivers.
I get the same fault sporadically, but like you say select another menu and
it goes away. I've tried all sorts of different drivers up to this version
of driver and had experienced same fault in each one at some point.

I even had this trouble at times with my old TNT card.

I tend to think it has to do with the coding being optimized originally for
Voodoo 3dfx type cards. D3D was put out purely by a devoted man in his spare
time at Papyrus. We owe him a lot of gratitude.
