I heard the following "rumor" today:

David Kaemmer is reportedly not on the N3 box or credit roll.........because
he's been digitized and now resides permanently in the***pit of a Late
Model stock car in Ratbag's upcoming Dirt Track Racing title.   And on the
dashboard of the car that David is digitally trapped in is a sponsorship
decal with the words........."Dirt Track Racing -- Powered by the Grand Prix
Legends physics engine!"

Think about it........Ratbag has released lots of screen shots from
DTR....but none showing any in-cockpit shots (which would potentially reveal
David's presence and the game's GPL lineage).  Could this be possible?'

</SATIRE>  [With all due respect to Tom Pabst and his original "I heard this
rumor" post! <G>]

One thing's sounding pretty certain -- based on the few things I've heard
trickling out of the beta test group, DTR's physics engine may be hot enough
to give us a taste of what a GPL-based dirt track sim would have been like.
Word is that DTR is four-wheel drift to the nth degree -- and that may be
enough to convince us that Papy HAS been resting on their laurels for far
too long.

Now, would somebody from Ratbag or the beta test team please POST AN IN-CAR
SCREEN SHOT FROM DTR BEFORE MY BRAIN EXPLODES!  Prove to me that I won't be
forced to drive from some cheesy "chase view" arcade cam -- PLEASE!!!!!

Plus, I want to see that digitized image of David Kaemmer, of course . . .

We'll be able to simulate that soon, too -- I hear that in addition to the
secret 3D patch for GP2, GP3 will also include a deathmatch mode and a level
editor . . .

That would be the answer to the question, "What's the Half-Life of a
Driver?" <VWG>

Ah, you mean "how many years does it take for half the existing racing
drivers to be killed?".

Not very many in the 1967 era, I think!
