F1 2002 basic questions..

by Mike Beaucham » Thu, 27 Jun 2002 17:23:57

I apologize if this has come up already..

Is there a button or key to change views while I am racing?? I don't mean
the POV hat or anything.. I mean like, if I'm hotlapping with a friend and
he prefers bumper instead of***pit.. that type of thing.

Now, in replays... If I do a fastest lap in practice or test and I am the
only person out there, when I go to watch the replay it will be in***pit
view. How do I get it to TV mode??

Normally for replays with a field of cars, I can press the button with the
car and it will to to a TV view, and then I can cycle through the whole
field and back to myself to watch myself on a TV view.

Also, how does the telemmetry work?? How can I see the telemmetry of a
fastest lap?

Now finally, I'd like to ramble on about the game for a few minutes with
random questions thrown in the middle of the rambling....

I've been racing a few tracks for a few days now. Originally I was using the
default car setup (the "Grip" one) and was racing apponents at 9x% strength
and 50% agression. I noticed they were killlling me on the straights. So I
loaded up the other car setup (not the "grip" one) and the racing was very
very nice I must say.

What level of agression do you guys prefer? Which is more realistic?

Also, with the driving aids... I've been driving with everything "OFF"
except traction control and antilock brakes, which were both set to "LOW".
Would that be a realistic setup, or should I be turning everything off? I
left traction control to low, since the cars have traction control, no? I
also left ABS to low, since I've been having a bit of trouble lockin' them
up when trying to brake late to pass :)

Also, someone posted an alternate car set with proper paint jobs. Do you
guys prefer that? Someone said it increased their FPS, which made me guess
that the alternate car set had less polys in the model. Is that true, or
does it use the F12002 models?

I guess that's about it :)

It's either the page down or insert button.

Same as above.

In the setup screen there is a telemetry button. Once in, it will show your
fast laps.

TC is fine, but the real cars don't have ABS.

Look at these screen shots. http://www.racesimcentral.net/'s car
set is MUCH better than the originals. I don't know what the poly counts
are, but I know which one clearly looks better. Here's the link to the car
set if you decide to try it. http://www.racesimcentral.net/

Dave, did you notice whether your frame rate changed after installing
that car set?  My frame rate is pretty low already, so I don't want to
install it if is is likely to get worse.

No, I haven't noticed any change. Then again, I didn't do a precise
comparison test. Nystrom said his actually increased.

It installs like the mods, so you can start the game with either set.
