GP2 - How many shifts a lap do you do at Monaco?

Hi,
I've been playing GP2 quite a bit at Monaco lately.  Today I decided
to count how many shifts I did in a single lap.  I counted around 55.
It's hard to do while driving! (sort of like trying to walk and chew
bubble gum!).  Has anyone else tried this?  A few laps later in the race
my transmission let go! isn't it ironic, don't ya think? (no I don't
really like Alanis!)  I watched the end of the race, it was a battle for
the lead between MS and DC.  If I heard Maury I would think I was
watching TV (F1RS is probably even better for this!).  It's harder really
notice the cool things the AI does while you are racing them.  It almost
looked like DC was getting sort of desperate to pass MS towards the end!
(locked the tires up and everything!)

Later,
John

Hi there John,

I'm an expert at the Monte Carlo Race (in actual life and not in sim) but
during a single race of 78 laps one car alone will shift (either up or down
1 or more gears) about 2000 times. also the braking is heavy and tire wear
is atrocious!

Anyway, with 55 gear shifts per lap and with a 100% race of 78 labs the
simulation then would have a shift of about 3-4 thousand times... Pretty
close to the actual total in a race. I myself have counted the number of
shifts that I do in 1 lap and It usually totals around 40-50 shifts per
lap. which would total about 3,000 shifts per race....

just my 2 cents worth.....

Don't you know the track well enough to *think* your way round a lap and
count the shifts?  That's how I did it, ages ago... and yes, it is a
*silly* number of shifts in a full-length race!

Paul,

What do you mean you're an expert at Monte Carlo in real life? Running
around the streets? ;)
