Andy, to modify the AI's pit window:  Open the track.txt file for each =
track (i.e. atlanta.txt, bristol.txt, etc which is located in =
Nascar2\tracks\.)  Then modify the "SPDWY 0 ** **" numbers to adjust the =
pit window (under green flag racing)  The number will represent the laps =
window at which the AI's will pit.  Example: SPDWY 0 78 87 means that =
they will pit between lap 78 and lap 87.  BTW, the 0 is for the =
restricor plate.

The second and third numbers on the SPDWY line of the various track
text files control the pit window of the AI cars.  Just reduce the
numbers to make the cars pit more frequently.

It is the same as N1.  Edit the tracknamehere.txt file in each track
directory.  For Talladega edit taladega.txt file and change the last two
values in the SPDWY line.  Default is SPDWY 1 42 45.  They will pit
between laps 42 and 45 from their last pitstop.   FYI the first value is
either 0 or 1 (restrictor plate).

The NASCAR 2 FAQ can be found at:
  http://www.sequoia-dev.com/Hawaii/Features/N2FAQ.txt

A quick answer...
In each track.txt file (ATLANTA.TXT, for example), you'll see a
line like: "SPDWY 0 47 53".  The second (47) and third (53) numbers
are the early and late pit stop intervals (in laps), respectively.
In this case, the cars will start pitting after 47 laps and finish
pitting by 53 laps.  Change these numbers to shorten (or extend) the
pit window.

Before you send me UCE, I know what you're thinking...  Did he complain
to five or six postmasters last month?  Now, you must ask yourself one
question: "Do I feel lucky?"  Well, do you, punk?

You may want to reconsider this notion, since at some tracks an AI car
will swerve into your car in its attempt to get into its stall,
inflicting damage to the both of you.  This happens a lot if you max
out the field on tracks with 1 pit lane (Sears Point comes to mind).

The simple answer to shorting the pit window lies in the track.txt file in
each track directory. I.E., for Alanta, look for the file Alanta.txt. Edit
the SPDWY line.
  Like:
;SPDWY 0 47 53
SPDWY 0 50 52

You add a ( ; ) in front of the origional line to save for reference. This
equals a REM.

Then change the second and third group of numbers to establish your 'pit
window'. These numbers represent the lap numbers for early and late pit.
I have changed most of these to reflect my tire wear, so the game
doesen't force more pit-stops upon the A.I.'s than I need.

I also agree that pitting increases the enjoyment of the game, but without
racing for hours the pit frequency is less than what I desire.  When racing
NCR I i normally raced 50% and decreased the AI's number of laps between
pits by one half of that set by Papy.  After doing this I started with
11(gal) of gas and only filled the tank to this amount in order to keep
things on a level playing field.  Has anyone determined how to change the
amount of fuel in which you start a race with yet?

thanks

I think they pit too much already on some tracks such as Bristol.  I usually
run a good 20 to 30 more laps more than they do.  With a 40% race, it's really
gives me an unfair advantage.  Never fails, with only about 20 laps to go, all
the leaders will pit.
