Why would they need to? Steering wheels don't generate nearly enough
data to max out even USB(1).

Well I was just wondering.  I have the old game port version and I have
heard that MS was going to stop making the wheel and I didnt know if that
was for a new model or just not making it anymore.  The prices of the usb
wheel are really great now so I thought that if they might discontinue I
would need a usb wheel for my new machine that I will be getting within a
year.  I also understand that the latest operating system does not like the
old wheel.

Actually, if you are using a hub, like I was, with a mouse and usb
headphones on the hub, you can use up all the bandwidth.  I had many
problems driving with my usb MSFFW.  I thought my wheel had gone bad.  I was
getting major lag in control inputs.  I tried it on a different computer and
it worked fine.  So, I plugged it into a dedicated usb port on my
motherboard and then it worked fine.  I would not have had to do this if
they had a usb 2.0 model because the bandwidth on the usb port.

I see no need, really.  If they do, it will only be to standardize on parts.

There is so little data sent over controllers that it would be a waste of
engineering otherwise.

Kinda like having an ATA/133 mouse :)

Microsoft has suspended the production of _all_ sidewinder products.

If you act now, you can get a USB MSFFW for $39 from several places.  I
think Best Buy is all out, but CompUSA might have some left.  That's where I
got mine from.

It's an excellent wheel with excellent pedals, and if you want one you
really don't want to put it off.

This was one of the rare times I actually got to a true bargain in time.

Yes, but you are talking about the Bus, not the device.  Having a USB2 wheel
would make absolutely no difference in your case.

If you saturate the Bus, you saturate the Bus.  You have to fix the Bus, not
the wheel.

Granted, but having a USB2 steering wheel (mind boggles) would have
made no difference in that situation.
