I have reached the 195.xxx plateau with a VP Pro, is there anyone that can
run faster on a qual lap with this device?  I see speeds of 197.xxx but
even when I am pulling a good draft that is unlikely.

196.4 is my record.  But with the keyboard.....

My best 'drafted' lap was 199.xx

But it's not all rosie, my RF tire won't last more than 30 laps :(.

I've had several qualifying laps that have broken Bill Elliot's record.
The best time so far is 215.???  For God's sake, I hope you people aren't
racing with the damn restrictor plate on.  That thing's for wusses.

What the hell IS a restrictor plate, and how do you turn them
on/off in NASCAR Racing?

Start with the ace setup you should be able to beat 183 (should be close
to 190).  Using qual12 you should get well into the 190s.  That is if you
are using a joystick or a wheel.  Are you using the keyboard, perhaps?

I am using a keyboard, don't have the $$ for a decent wheel pedal
combo...  this shouldn't be the problem though, i can take the pole
at 100% on every other track (except road courses, but i don't like
them anyway) i don't have a problem with squelling the tires, i can
hold my line on every turn and only squel for a fraction of a second
on turn 3 (not very well banked) without letting of the gas.  braking
help is off so that's ot a factor either (it was about 10mph slower)
before i upgraded to 1.21 i could qualify at 193.xxx but that setup
didn't work at all with the new taladega....

i guess i'll have to start over with ace12 :(

READ THIS.

I don't know what you're all talking about. (PLATES or something)

My record top speed at tala is about 220 (with slipstream)
And my record average speed is 208.

I played it with a wingman ex. joystick.

Hint: If you really like the speed, try editing the taladega track
info (speedway parameter). You will we a rocket.

I've gone 226.+ without the plate <G>  Keep trying.  You should only lift a touch for an entrance speed of around 215 at the
tri-oval.

A restrictor plate is a flat plate with four small holes drilled in
it.   It is bolted between the carby and the intake manifold (or
somewhere near that) and restricts the air going into the engine.
This restricts the HP that is produced and therefore the speeds of the
cars.

To remove:

Edit file in Tracks/talledega called talledega.txt
line that begins SPDWY and change 1 to 0

change 0 back to 1 to put plate back in.

hang on at the tri-oval cause you cannot make it at 215 mph.   I
needed to change my driving suit the first time I tried.

Craig.
