ICR2: Handling question

ICR2: Handling question

I'm considering buying ICR2, but I'm concerned about one thing.  What
does the car drive like?  F1GP(without steering help) or like Indy500 the
simulation.  These are the only games I can relate to right now.  Also,
how long did it take you to get comfortable with driving ICR2?  I want to
know if it will take days or months.

P.S
I'm using a wheel/pedal combo, so advice from fellow users will be
appreciated.

More like Indy500, but 1000x's more accurate.  It takes me hours for
each track.  Some tracks take longer.  But I have been racing since my
Sinclair/Timex days.  It ain't easy, but that's cuz it's a more a
simulation than a game.

I think it drives more like a real car than ICR1 by far, but I
may be alone in that.  No I have never driven a real Indycar,
but I have had a SCCA license and I have driven open wheeled
formula type cars many years ago.  To ME ICR2 is more like
real driving and less like a game.  The car behaves more
like I would expect.  ICR2 will take a LOT of practice if you
what to compete with high percentage opps with realistic
damage.

Believe me... It's soooooooooo much better than F1GP without steering help. The car can be
a bit wobbly on fast corners, but hey, if its in the sport its in the game.

Well I am not a race car driver, but I play one in front of my computer.
. .

I agree, from what I have seen from the in car shots during the races.
If people are complaining now about how loose the cars are in ICR2, they
wouldn't want to be driving real IndyCars in 1996.  I heard that they
have reduced the down force by 40% over 1995.

Closer to I500, but not exactly.

Don't know, just got it today.  I have enjoyed it and it's a real
learning experience.  I thought I was really good at Michigan, but, make
the damage to realistic and it's a whole new ballgame...

Hello Dennis,

I have used Indynapolis, Indycar Racing (v1), GrandPrix (v1) verry much.
I've just played IndyCar Racing 2 for about 5 hours by now. I also use a
wheel/pedals combo (T1 from Thrustmaster). ICR2 wil drive different from
both GP and Indyanapolis. It streers actualy almost the same as ICR1.
This means you wil get a better feeling over the car than GP has. The
steering is not as direct or sensetive as with GP. Learnig to drive with
it wil take you a few weaks i think. (maybe wait a copple of weaks/days
for GrandPrix 2 and compare them).

Whatever youre chois, enjoy ;-)
