Codemasters BTCC sim

I emailed codemasters a couple of times - I love BTCC and they have the
opportunity to make a NASCAR killer. The last reply I got was 'it's too early to
give details out'.

BUT, I was in WHSMITHS the other week and some PC mag or another had 2 small
screenshots of it! It looked like NASCAR 1 :(

My wish list for this title (are you there codemasters ?) would be (for now)
1) 3dfx support using  the native Glide NOT D3D (which SUCKS)
2) 16bit photorealistic textures (which you can have if you do '1'
3) Car setup options closer to GP2 than Psygnosis F1
4) A stunning car physics model - individual wheel locks etc
5) multi-player support - internet/modem/direct link
6) Real world mechanical failures - punctures, bodywork damage etc

I'm sorry, but I can't see Codemasters doing a decent sim. In fact, I'm
surprised it's the quality of a Papy sim, even if it is an out of date
one. You'd be best emailing Codemasters with your ideas.

At least we'll get to thrash around Oulton, even if it is the ***one
this year...

Forget my earlier post, I take it back after having seen the screenshots
at http://www.codemasters.com/tocapage.htm

It looks really good at this stage and has incredible detail from the
looks of it.

The thing is, the gameplay will probably be more arcadey than anything
else, since it's also being released on Playstation. At the moment it
looks more like Destruction Derby 2 than Nascar2, so I hope this will
change and the cars wil be able to get punctures etc. What would be nice
would be if the cars could flip, which super-tourers do quite a lot :)

Those screen shots certainly look fab! Looks like a 3D version to me.
Strange that there isn't a***pit view yet. I hope it doesn't turn out
like another Psygnosis F1 (great graphics, lousy gameplay).

On another note, I noticed in Autosport that eidos is apparently doing
an update to F1 which would allegedly be a better sim than its
predeccessor. Anyone know about that?

And the new Psygnosis  F1 97 looks terrfic in the wet, hope it's really
much more sim like (and can that dumb interface!)

Cheers,

Stanley Chan

Yeah but wil it be a simulation, or an arcade game? Will there be a lot
of setup options, and will you get a realistic eeling of understeer and
oversteer? I mean, the cars can barrel roll in DDerby 2. Still, this is
good news so far...

Also, on the screenshots I notice a lot of shattered and broken windows.
There seems to be quite a lot for super-touring racing.
