Any news on the Codemasters mountain biking sim?

by enzo » Fri, 26 Feb 1999 04:00:00

I know that Codemasters was working on a mountain biking sim
with the "No Fear" license. I recall seeing some old pictures that
looked like it used the CMR engine. Has anyone heard anything
more? Is it going to be solely downhill racing or will there be
dual-slalom, cross-country, trials, etc etc ?

Thanks much,
Neil M.

No offense, but there is NO reason to EVER use an MB sim. Why? Because
you can ALWAYS bike! :-) I mean, GPL and other racing sims are great
because, even if you had such a car, getting track time is not
practical. Especially in the winter. But biking...

I live in snow country and can ride all winter long, and if you have a
light, you can ride at night too. Ever go on MB trails at night? It's
nutty fun!

IMO, there's a few good reasons:
-It could be good exposure for the sport (something that wouldn't
hurt in this Golf/Baseball/Football/etc morass we're in.)

-You can't ride at absolute maximum speed on most public trails.
Hikers/equestrians/cars/rattlesnakes etc suddenly appear around
a blind corner and you can't stop in time - I nearly got flattened over
Christmas break when some yahoo thought he could get away with
pulling a Shaun Palmer imitation on Verdugo Peak.

- Riding when you have a bad case of the flu sucks.

-I'll leave the real-life dual-slalom and trials riding to the experts, thanks.

-It could be fun! Aren't you the least bit curious?

Yes. "Nutty fun" does pretty much sum it up. Bumped into a hungry
dog at midnight last season. Dog? Waitaminute, that's much too
big for a dog.... BEAR!!! Aaaaaaaa! Run away! Run away! =)

HeeHEE! :-) Oh... the bear part... I'm LOL over here!! :-)

My wife and I came within about 15 yards of one in Whistler, BC two
years ago... gets your attention!! And that was during the day! :-)

But in regards to your points, yes, they are quite valid... especially
the flu part. Or 50-below wind chills. Not good.
