N2/T2 works in Win95 safe mode

N2/T2 works in Win95 safe mode

by Dave Walkle » Thu, 10 Apr 1997 04:00:00

I read an earlier message stating that someone was
able to get their T2 to be recognized by Nascar 2
when Win95 is booted in safe mode.

Well, I tried it, and mine works, too.  Of course the
only problem is my modem doesn't work in safe mode.

I also can't change my com port in the game, seems
that N2 doesn't like the "virtual" com port that my
modem (USR Winmodem) sets up for itself.

So, it seems that if Papyrus can fix the problem with
N2 and virtual com ports, the whole deal with the T2
not working in Win95 OSR2 will be solved.  And then
myself and a lot of others would be happy as hell.

I too run NT/T2 in Win95 right from the Desktop. I am not sure why you and
others
need to run in safe mode. Try these following suggestions to remedy the
situation.
Mail me back if you do not understand the instructions. See you on the
track!

1.) Create a shortcut to the desktop and right mouse click and pick
properties.
2.) On the program tab, pick advanced
3.) There are a few boxes to uncheck, I am recalling from memory since I am

in a Win NT 4.0 environment, uncheck boxes about DOS sessions and check
boxes that prevent windows from detecting a DOS application.

A specific detail of how to do this would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

N2/T2 works in Win95 safe mode

I have tried this, with no success.  I really believe it's because my
modem isn't on a "Windows or Bios configured com port", but on
a comport that the modem makes for itself.  I've tried changing all
of my bios settings as far as which serial ports are enabled and
such, but N2 always defaults the modem setup to the com port
that my mouse is on, and will not let me alter it.  Thanks for the
ideas though.
