NASCAR Thunder 2003. No Career Mode?

Can anyone confirm this for the PC version? I've been looking over the EA
Sports NT page and noticed there isn't a mention of it like there is for the
consoles. The closest thing I read was "Season Mode: Race an unlimited
number of seasons as you compete against full 43 car fields on all 23
Winston Cup tracks." Anyone?

If this is true, how in the *** do they get away with this? The only reason
I pre-ordered was because of the season mode. Maybe I still have time to
cancel my order.

Well, I was browsing the internet and came across a preview that may say
otherwise. The relevant part:

"Tiburon is of course famous for the Franchise Mode in Madden, and equal
care is being paid to the career mode in NASCAR. 2003 is to go beyond driver
management to total team management. Using a budget based on race success
and sponsorship money, you build a complete pit crew out of individual staff
and acquire new technology for your cars. More money means a more competent
crew, while lower pay means more screwups in the pit lane. If you aren't
paying a crew member enough, he may be prone to mistakes that could cost you
a race. The selection of sponsors to customize cars is naturally much
bigger, and now that cash is a factor, picking up sponsors is more important
to success in the career mode. As before, career lasts 20 years on consoles,
although it's unlimited on PC."

Came from IGN.

HMMM.  That's not what Ed Martin said recently in an interview at BHMS..

BHMS - Will there be a career mode?

Ed Martin - Career Mode is on the PS2, Xbox & Gamecube but not PC & PSX.

Wayne, Goy, I appreciate your responses about what Ed said. Apparently,
we've got two sets of info. If Ed is right (and it's damn hard to discredit
him :) then I'll probably have to go out and buy a PS2 to fill the void.
It's sad, really, since it looks like there is no career mode for the PC
version. Why they left it out is anyones guess. Sure, there are two teams
working on the game (console and PC) but IMO there is no excuse. Would that
not the best part of the game? Christ, maybe one of these years a dev will
get it right. Until then, I reserve the right to ***. :)

Also when I think about it, I wouldn't be a bit surprised if the game was a
flop on the PC. Hey, I can always hope. :)
I pray that Papy will punch out one last killer NASCAR title...maybe with
the career stuff (team management, sponsor deals, etc) that EA won't give
us. Yet, knowing my luck, they won't. They'll just toss in some minor
graphical updates, tidy up the physics and push it out the door. I, for one,
still enjoy offline racing since I'm on dial-up. Maybe I'm a dying breed of
racer. *shrug*
.
Thanks again, fellas.

I would assume that like F1 2002, NT 2003 for the PC uses a completely
different physics engine/model than the PS2 version.

Honestly, if you want career mode + decent physics you'd be better off
saving the $250 for a PS2 and NT2k3 and just spend $20 on DTR2.

Personally, I'd settle for just being able to earn a certain amount
during the course of the season... Each race earning roughly its real life
equivalent....  I don't care about the mundane details of sponsorships, et
al. - I just wanna race. But I'd also like to compare not just my point
standings, but my season (or career) earnings.

At first thought I don't like the idea of having to "buy" a decent team... I
think it'd be a cool "option", though.
