GP2 - How do I set up Joystick and Pedals?

by Brad Bar » Fri, 22 Nov 1996 04:00:00

I have a CH FlightStick Pro, a CH Throttle (not the Pro version) and CH Pro
Pedals.  I cannot set up for steering using the FlightStick Joystick and
accelerating / braking with the pedals (the pedals are set to "car" mode
instead of "plane" mode).  Can anyone help me with this?  I have tried all
sorts of different things (joystick A horizontal, joystick B vertical,
joystick B horizontal, control driven calibration ON, control driven
calibration OFF etc etc etc).  Nothing seems to work.  I can steer with the
joystick, but the pedals are a no go and I get weird things happening (like
full acceleration without me even pressing a pedal or full brakes on
permanently etc).  I CANNOT calibrate these darn pedals with this game.
Please someone suggest where I may be going wrong or inform me how to
do it ...  Could it simply be that I have a CH Pro Throttle connected as part
of my hardware setup?

>(snip)

I have the Pro Throttle which is programmable and loads a TSR when
starting a game programmed for it. I don't know if the regular
throttle is programmable itself or if it can program your joystick,
but I would make sure the throttle isn't loading a TSR (which you can
see when you load the game, it will be a moving bar graph that pops up
for about 2 secs before the game starts). If this is the case, the
throttle could be screwing up everything by loading a control set that
does not work with the game.
I'd try taking your throttle out of your setup first and then try
setting up your stick and pedals, then try to work the throttle in the
setup.  Going from simple setups that work with the joystick first,
then add pedals, then throttle might help. I guarantee you'll be
insane and eating those *** grubs the aboriginies eat with your
vegemite and loving it before you figure this out with all that stuff
hooked up at once. Try the MPS site for help. (Yah right, MPS does not
offer any technical or any other support once they have your money:))
Been to OZ and loved it! (Went to New Zealand too, but it was
closed:))

You might try disconnecting all
Try to set your controls in the game without loading the TSR

Why use the throttle if you have pedals ?
